The Challenge
Hubo, Belgium's largest DIY retail chain with over 150 stores, wanted to strengthen their digital presence with a dedicated mobile app. Their webshop and promotional campaigns were already performing well, but they lacked a user-friendly app to better serve customers and elevate their strategy into a true multichannel approach.
The brief was multifaceted: design an intuitive mobile experience that seamlessly integrates with existing systems like product search and promotions, digitise the physical loyalty card, and do all this while staying true to the familiar Hubo look and feel that customers know and trust.
Our Approach
Buzzworks deployed Fabrikate, our specialised UX/UI design brand, to craft the complete visual and user experience for Hubo's new app. Our design team created a comprehensive blueprint that development partner Unlock'd then brought to life.
User-centred design
We designed an intuitive interface that lets customers effortlessly browse products, check promotions and place orders. In doing so, we tackled the usability issues that plague many retail apps.
Visually compelling
Our designers created a modern, attractive visual style that stays true to Hubo's brand identity while feeling fresh and contemporary. Through carefully chosen typography, quality imagery and a consistent design system, every screen reinforces the Hubo brand.
Future-proof design system
We built a comprehensive design system in Figma that ensures consistency across all app features and provides a solid foundation for future updates. This systematic approach streamlines development and enables faster feature rollouts.
Our design included a digital loyalty card with live points balance, personal wishlists for DIY projects, an overview of previous purchases across web and app, a seamless in-app shopping experience, and reusable components for efficient development.
